Our walk begins in the most traditional village inside the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Allways going up, we will continue for a forest corridor until a megalithic construction about 4.000 years old.
From here, the “Peninha“ shrine is our next goal.
It will be with the overwhelming view of one of the highest points of the “Moon Mountain” (Sintra), about 500m high, that we will do our picnic dinner, while the Sun and the Moon will present us two great moments, the farewell of the first behind the Atlantic, and the birth of the second in the clear skies of the Sierra, all this with the enigmatic medieval setting provided by the “Peninha“ shrine and the chapel of “St. Saturnino” with almost 1000 years of history.
The way down under a cedars forest, with the silver light rays of the full moon will show us a more mysterious and simultaneously more intimate side of the Sintra forest. The final stage will be in the most typical village of Sintra, whose beginnings date back to the sixteenth century, the “Holy Spirit” village. Known for its countless fountains and streams, will be also here where, in a local cafe (if it will be open), we can have a nice cup of coffee/tea.
